Simple, because this site collects very little.

When you send a message

The contact form first collects the email address you choose to provide, your answer to a changing arithmetic check, a hidden screening field and basic timing information. It uses short rate limits, an existing abuse blocklist and a domain rule to protect the form from automated abuse. Requests that fail those checks may be discarded without delivering a message.

If the first step is accepted, Cloudflare sends a verification link and backup code to that address. The link and code expire after 15 minutes. Completing either one creates a signed, first-party kl_contact cookie that lasts for up to 60 minutes, is not available to page scripts and is used only to let you open and submit the name-and-message form. It is cleared after a successful submission.

The final form collects the name and message you choose to provide. Your verified email address is attached on the server; you do not have to enter it again.

I use that information to read your message and reply to you. I do not sell it, rent it, add it to a marketing list or use it to send advertising.

The form is transmitted over HTTPS, processed through Cloudflare and delivered to an access-controlled private inbox. Service providers involved in hosting and email delivery process the information only to provide those services, and information may be handled outside Canada.

Your theme choice

If you choose a different look with the Theme button, this site saves one first-party cookie named kl_theme. It stores only the theme you selected, lasts for one year and lets the site remember that choice on your next visit.

The theme cookie is not used to identify you, follow you around the web or show advertising. You can delete or block it in your browser; the site will simply return to its default theme.

Approximate country and pricing

Cloudflare supplies an approximate country code based on the network connection used to visit the site. KeithLock.com uses it momentarily to decide whether to show an approximate US-dollar amount beside the Canadian price. It does not request precise location, and this site does not keep a copy of the detected country.

All prices are billed in Canadian dollars. Cloudflare may process ordinary network information, such as an IP address and request details, to deliver and protect the site under its privacy policy.

Cookie-free site analytics

Cloudflare automatically adds a small Web Analytics script named beacon.min.js, loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com. It records page views and browser performance measurements, such as page-load timing and Core Web Vitals, and reports them to this site's /cdn-cgi/rum endpoint so I can see whether the site is working well for visitors.

Cloudflare says Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not collect or use visitors' personal data for this service. I use the aggregate results only to understand traffic and site performance, not for advertising or individual profiles.

Tips and external payment services

If you choose Stripe, PayPal or Wise in the tip widget, you leave KeithLock.com and deal directly with that provider. Payment and banking details go to the provider, not to this website or its contact form. If you use Interac e-Transfer, you complete it through your own bank. Each external service applies its own privacy terms.

Security, retention and your choices

I use reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS and limited access to the private inbox. No website or email system can promise absolute security.

I keep contact messages only as long as reasonably needed to respond or meet legal obligations, then delete them when they are no longer needed.

This site has no advertising trackers, social-media pixels or analytics cookies. The cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics described above is the only analytics in use. If that changes, this page and any required choices will change first.

You can ask what personal information I have from your message, request a correction or ask me to delete it when there is no reason I must keep it.
